Super Freak of the Week: Buccaneers RB Doug Martin Buccaneers rookie RB Doug Martin had a huge game on Thursday night against the Vikings. Martin had a career high 135 yards rushing on 29 carries, and also had a career day catching the ball with 3 receptions for 79 yards. The rookie had over 200 all purpose yards and 2 touchdowns in the 36-17 victory over the Vikings. Sy Su's Sleeper: Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts With the NFL Trade deadline here, the Jags trade Mike Thomas to the Lions opening a door of opportunity for Jacksonville's leading receiver Cecil Shorts. He's racked up 400 yards and 3 TDs so far this season -highlighted by last week's career-high 116 yards on 8 catches. He's definitely QB Blaine Gabbert's favorite receiver, targeting him 22 times in the last two weeks! By the way, his 12 receptions in the last two weeks is more than Megatron, Larry Fitzgerald, and Hakeem Nicks, just to name a few, in the same period. Bailey's Bench Em: Cowboys RB Felix Jones I understand that DeMarco Murray is hurt & fantasy owners need Felix Jones right now, but this week's matchup is not a good one, so unless you own Felix in a deep league or a PPR league, don't start him. Atlanta's O is on a run & should put all the pressure on Dallas's O, leaving the game in Tony Romo's hands. Felix has produced only 1 standout game & hasn't produced much in the last 2 games, when he has been getting the majority of carries. Atlanta does allow over 100 yds/g rushing, but only allows 18 pts/g & I imagine Romo & his WRs are gonna see the end zone over Felix. Nick's Pick: Lions QB Matthew Stafford Matthew Stafford was an unlikely top fantasy quarterback last week against a Seattle defense that has given up the 26th most points to opposing fantasy quarterback's this season, throwing for more than 350 yards and 3 touchdowns. Is this a sign of better days on the horizon for Stafford owners? Or just an aberration. I'm a believer in Stafford. The next few weeks seem to be more favorable for him on paper with matchup's against Jacksonville and Minnesota who this year has given up the 8th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. I look for Stafford to get back on track and begin to find the rhythm he had all of last season.
